To enhance public safety in east Asheville, the City is undertaking two key projects: Phase 1 – the construction of a new facility to house Fire Station 9 at 711 Fairview Road (currently Asheville Police Department’s Oakley Resource Center) and Phase 2 – the renovation of the existing fire station facility at Murphy-Oakley Community Center. With the renovation, Asheville Police Department will relocate its resource center to the former fire station.
Essentially, the police and fire departments will switch locations, both inhabiting new and improved facilities.
