Asheville event to mark National Drive Electric Week

A message from the City of Asheville Office of Sustainability:

National Drive Electric Week 2016 is right around the corner, as it takes place the week of September 10-18. This is a nationwide celebration that seeks to increase awareness for today’s widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlights the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more.

Electric Car Show & Ride

To celebrate National Drive Electric Week in Asheville, the Asheville Outlets Mall has teamed up with Land of Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and the Blue Ridge EV Club to provide a fun-filled electrifying afternoon. The event is Asheville’s third annual Drive Electric Week free Electric Car Show & Ride, and it takes place from noon to 4 p.m. September 11 (rain date: September 18).

The Show & Ride will include opportunities to talk with owners and dealers, ride in zero-emissions vehicles, get answers to electric vehicle questions, check out Asheville Outlets charging stations in action, and meet and network with members of the Blue Ridge EV Club.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are fun to drive, more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, better for the environment and reduce our dependence of foreign oil. If you are considering going electric, National Drive Electric Week could be your time to find out more! If you already drive electric, this is your time to share your experience with others to motivate them to make the switch.
