Parks and Facilities The Asheville Parks and Recreation Department oversees many public parks and facilities. Asheville Public Parks Listing and Locations Public Parks Regional Parks Location Park View Azalea Park Azalea Park is located along the Swannanoa River in East Asheville. Amenities include picnic shelters, restrooms, parking, and the John B. Lewis Soccer Complex which consists of four fields with synthetic turf. Along the eastern edge of the complex, at 395 Azalea Rd., is an off-leash dog park which features two separate fenced areas—one for small dogs and one for large dogs. 498 Azalea Road Asheville, NC 28806 Carrier Park Located along the French Broad River, Carrier Park is one of Asheville’s premier parks. Amenities include a velodrome for cycling, volleyball courts, inline hockey rink, basketball court, lawn bowling court, multi-use sports field, large playground, large picnic shelter, greenway access, river overlooks, wetland interpretive trails, restrooms and parking. 220 Amboy Road, Asheville NC 28806 French Broad River Park The French Broad River Park in West Asheville features a vast area of open green space with old trees, picnic gazebo, restrooms, greenway access, scenic river overlooks, an observation deck, small playground, restrooms and parking. There is also an off-leash dog park which features two separate fenced areas—one for small dogs and one for large dogs. 508 Riverview Drive Asheville, NC 28806 Martin Luther King Jr. Park This park located near downtown pays homage to the great civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a life-size memorial statue set in a landscaped courtyard. Amenities include a lighted ball field with concessions, playground, picnic shelter, restrooms and parking. 50 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Asheville, NC 28801 Pack Square Park Pack Square Park provides a wonderful downtown venue for events. Amenities include an outdoor stage with terraced seating, open green space, native trees and shrubs, Splasheville (an interactive splash fountain), original artwork, visitor pavilion and restrooms. 70 Court Plaza and 121 College Street Asheville, NC 28801 Pritchard Park Pritchard Park is located in the heart of downtown and features large boulders, walkways, amphitheater-style seating and landscaping. It is a favorite spot for special events and street performers. 67 Patton Avenue Asheville, NC 28801 Richmond Hill Park Asheville’s largest wooded city park features a hilly terrain and views of the French Broad River.
