Vice Mayor Brownie Newman was elected to the Asheville City Council in 2003 and appointed to Vice Mayor in 2009. He is Chair of the City Council Housing & Community Development Committee, Chair of the Asheville Regional Housing Consortium, Chair of the City Council Boards & Commissions Committee and Chair of the Police Officers and Firefighters Disability Review Board.  Vice-Mayor Newman is a member of the Asheville Regional Airport Authority, the City Council Public Safety Committee and the Transportation Advisory Committee.

Councilmember Cecil Bothwell was elected to the Asheville City Council in 2009.  Councilman Bothwell is member of the City Council Finance Committee, City Council Public Safety Committee, alternate member of the Land-of-Sky Regional Council, and alternate member of the Transportation Advisory Committee.  Councilman Bothwell is also liaison to the Asheville-Buncombe Community Relations Council, the Asheville-Buncombe Fair Housing Commission, the Recreation Board, the Sustainable Advisory Committee on Energy & the Environment, the Tree Commission and the WNC Air Quality Agency Board.

Cecil Bothwell

Councilmember Jan Davis was elected to the Asheville City Council in 2003 was appointed to serve as vice-mayor from 2007-2009. He is the Chair of the City Council Planning & Economic Development Committee.  Councilman Davis is also a member of the City Council Boards & Commissions Committee, Downtown Commission, City Council Housing & Community Development Committee, Riverfront Redevelopment Commission, Transportation Advisory Committee, an ex-officio non-votinig member of the Citizens-Police Advisory Committee and an ex-officio non-voting member of the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority.  Councilman Davis is also liaison to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, the Civic Center Commmission, the Civil Service Board, the Firemen's Relief Fund and the URTV Inc. Board.  Councilman Davis owns and operates Jan Davis Tire Store in downtown Asheville.
