Transportation Department

Mission
The City of Asheville’s Transportation Department is dedicated to providing for the safety, health, mobility, and quality of life for Asheville citizens and guests through the administration of engineering, infrastructure and transportation related projects.

About the Department

The Transportation Department manages traffic engineering projects, develops standard practices for transportation development, reviews and inspects projects and provides for safe public transportation throughout Asheville. The Transportation Department also serves as coordinator for the review and inspection of projects in the city's right-of-way.

The department serves Asheville citizens through the following divisions:

  • Traffic Engineering
  • Transportation Planning - Transit
  • Parking Services
