Surplus Property Disposal
The Purchasing Division is responsible for the disposal of surplus personal property pursuant to NC state laws. The city's primary method of disposal is through Internet auctions.
The City of Asheville disposes of surplus personal property through Public Surplus online auction service. This service provides the city the opportunity to dispose of surplus on an ongoing basis. To view and bid on surplus items currently available for auction, visit the City of Asheville homepage at the web address: http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/asheville,nc/browse/home.
Items are posted on the site as they become available. We suggest that you bookmark the Public Surplus Web site to gain easier access.
You must register with Public Surplus in order to bid on an item, but you do not have to register to view what items are available. All items are sold "as is, where is" and the City of Asheville reserves the right to reject any and all bids. All freight costs are the responsibility of the winning bidder. It is the responsibility of the winning bidder to arrange for pick-up and transportation within 5 business days.
The City of Asheville will accept only cash, certified/cashiers checks or money orders (payable to the City of Asheville) as payment on surplus items.
A full disclosure of the terms of each sale is posted with each item being sold.
If you have any further questions, please contact the Purchasing Division at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 828-259-5950.
