Planning & Zoning
How do I determine my zoning district? What does it mean?
You may use Map Asheville, an online geographic information system, to determine your zoning district. Searches may be made by property identification number (old or new, issued by the Buncombe County Tax Department), property owner, address, or street name. MapAsheville will zoom to the selected parcel and the zoning will be indicated on the map.

You may also call the Planning Department at 828-259-5831 with your PIN number or street address and staff will tell you what your property is zoned.
Each zoning district within the city has specific development standards for lot area, lot width, setbacks, and permitted uses in the district. When you know your zoning district, use the links below to learn about the specific requirements for your property.
