Water line break interrupts service on Brevard road

The City of Asheville Water Resources Department has reported a water service interruption on Brevard Road from I-26 to Sardis Road due to a main water line break in front of the Ingles grocery store, 863 Brevard Road. The affected area extends to the Ridgefield Residential area, Wedgefield Drive, Wedgefield Place, Rocky Ridge, and Pacoda Street. Several businesses, including Ingles, Toys R Us and surrounding hotels are affected, as is the Asheville Fire station.

Crews are working on site to repair the line. The anticipated time of repair is currently 5:00 p.m. The city’s Citizen’s Alert emergency messaging system was used to alert affected customers this morning. Affected businesses were notified by a Water Resources representative.

Surrounding areas may experience no water to low pressure during the interruption. When the work is completed the affected area may experience discolored water or air in the lines.  Customers are advised to wait until the water is clear before using it.
