    The information below is provided by the Water Resources department and reflects unexpected water interruptions and scheduled water outages.  To be notified of interruptions or outages in an area, residents may register contact information with the City's Citizens Alert service.  This site allows users to receive important information from the City of Asheville.

    april 17, 2014

    emergency road closure:  college street

    Update: road has been reopened 4/17/14 at 12:45 PM

    The City of Asheville Water Resources Department has scheduled an emergency road closure on College Street from Mountain Street to South Beaumont Street from approximately 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for water valve and hydrant replacements, general system maintenance, or connection of a new water line by a contractor into the city's water system.

    The City of Asheville has scheduled the following water interruptions for water valve and hydrant replacements, general system maintenance, or connection of a new water line by a contractor into the city's water system.

    Surrounding areas may experience no water to low pressure during the interruptions. When the work is completed, customers may experience discolored water or air in the lines and are advised to wait until the water is clear before using it.

    Properties in the affected areas are receiving a notification by telephone via the city's automated system. Citizens may registered unlisted phone numbers, toll free numbers, or business numbers by clicking on the Citizens Alert Sign-Up link, located in the right column on the front page of the City's website.

    APRIL 26, 2014

    The City of Asheville has scheduled the a water interruption on Beaverdam Road from Merrimon Avenue to Elk Mountain Scenic Highway and surrounding areas (North District) from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for water valve and hydrant replacements, general system maintenance, or connection of a new water line by a contractor into the city’s water system.

    March 27, 2014

    This is an informational notification from the City of Asheville Water Resources Department letting you know that milling and paving will begin on Chatham Road and Ivy Street North.

    During the paving process there will be road closures and lane reductions beginning Thursday, March 27 and lasting through Tuesday, April 1. This schedule may vary due to weather conditions.

    Due to the paving, all on street parking will be prohibited during the hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. Please make arrangements to avoid parking on street during this time.

    This is an informational notification from the City of Asheville Water Resources Department letting you know that milling and paving will begin on Gracelyn Avenue and Woodvale Avenue.

    During the paving process there will be road closures and lane reductions beginning Wednesday, March 26 and lasting through Friday, March 28. This schedule may vary due to weather conditions.

    Due to the paving, all on street parking will be prohibited during the hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Wednesday through Friday. Please make arrangements to avoid parking on street during this time.

    water infrastructure project:   long street

    This is an informational notification from the City of Asheville Water Resources Department letting you know we will begin installation of new waterline infrastructure on Long Street.

    During construction there will be scheduled water outages and road closures as construction progresses over the next two months. Construction and road closures will begin the week of January 7, 2014 and have a projected completion date of March 2014. The contractor will work Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm, weather permitting, until the project is complete.

    You will receive further updates as the project progresses along with water interruption dates and other pertinent information regarding the project that directly affects you as water customers.

    Due to the location of installation, on-street parking will be restricted within the construction area. Please make arrangements to avoid parking on street during this time.

    water infrastructure project:   chatham road and Ivy street
