    WATER EDUCATION AND EFFICIENCY AUDITS

The Water Education program provides information about how water is used, how water is treated, why water is so important, and the need to conserve this precious resource.  This program provides water libraries that contain water-related videos, books, handouts, resources, and curriculum ideas.

The City of Asheville's Sustainability Office will visit your classroom or civic group meeting to provide water education.  They also conduct a limited number of school field trips to a water treatment plant.  Tours are only available for students and their teachers.  Please call the Sustainability Office at (828) 271-6141 for more information or to make an appointment.

This program also partners with the Land of Sky Regional Council's Waste Reduction Partners (WRP) to provide technical assistance to area schools interested in pursuing student water education programs and extra-credit projects.  WRP provides guidance on how to conduct school water efficiency assessment exercises.  The objective is to promote reduced water usage, water savings, improved environmental impact, sustained water quality, and commitment to a water efficiency ethic.  Services are provided by a team of experienced engineers at no charge to the school.  More information  may be obtained by clicking on the link below or by contacting Wayne Rumble (click on to email) or Terry Albrecht (click to email) at (828) 251-6622.

    Industrial / Commercial Efficiency Program
