ENGINEERING
The Engineering Services team of the Streets and Engineering Division facilitates the planning, design, management, and inspection of infrastructure improvement projects within the City maintained right-of-ways and properties for this and other divisions of the Public Works Department. As part of the infrastructure improvements, the team also constructs, repairs, and maintains the City's sidewalks. In addition, Engineering Services provides general engineering support and infrastructure planning for other City departments.
NEW PROJECTS
Deaverview Road Bridge Repairs
With the completed plans of TGS Engineers, the division is conducting project administration and inspection of repairs to the steel piles supporting the Deaverview Road bridge with nine of piles having heavy rust and section loss for 12" to 48" above the concrete crash wall.
ONGOING PROJECTS
Bus Stop Pads and Shelters
Our concrete crews have been constructing bus stop pad and shelters for the City's Transportation Department.

Short Coxe Avenue Sidewalk
The division's concrete crews constructed sidewalk on both sides of Short Coxe Avenue from South Avenue and Biltmore Avenue.

Old Toll Road Retaining Wall
With the completed plans of Civil Design Concepts and Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, the division is conducting project administration and inspection of construction that includes demolition, earthwork, drainage, retaining wall, curb and gutter, driveway apron, paving, and guardrail along the west side of Old Toll Road near the intersection of Bent Tree Road.

Clingman Avenue and Haywood Road Streetscape
The division is conducting the project administration and will inspect the construction of the project that consist of the milling of the existing pavement, repair of any areas of base failure, construction of storm drainage infrastructure, curb and gutter, streetscape, roundabout, and placement of asphalt surface course.

FUTURE PROJECTS
Vance Crescent and Olney Road Sidewalk Improvements
The division has developed a preliminary plan to improve the existing sidewalks along Vance Crescent and Olney Road by removing and replacing certain sections in need of repair due to deteriation and adjacent tree root growth. Also, by constructing ADA compliant wheelchair ramps at the connecting street intersections along Vance Crescent and Olney Road. Click the on following view the preliminary plans:
