    EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS

    A team of highly trained telecommunicators staffs the Communications Unit. They are trained to handle police emergency and non-emergency calls for service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They are responsible for receiving, prioritizing and sending appropriate assistance to citizens of Asheville. The 21 non-sworn employees in this unit are certified by the North Carolina Sheriff's Education and Training Standards Commission and are responsible for police and animal services communications.
