Thank you for your interest in our hiring process. The Asheville Fire Department's hiring process is as follows:
Tentative Hiring Schedule:
Physical Ability Practice sessions: December 16-18th. Number to call for scheduling will be posted soon.
The written exam takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete and dates are set for:
Thursday, January 8th at 5:30pm
Saturday, January 10th at 8:30am
Saturday, January 10th at 1:30pm
Physical Ability testing is February 2nd - 7th.
Panel interviews are the week of February 16th.
Chief interviews are the week of February 23rd.
Completion of all pre-employment conditional requirements March 2nd - March 27th. Tentative hire date March 30th.
All dates are subject to change and we will notify you by email as needed throughout the process.
Basic Employment Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
18 years or older Valid Drivers License
Excellent physical condition
Successful completion of all testing components
Successful completion of thorough background check
Successful completion of drug and alcohol screening
Starting Salary $30,832.46 /year
