BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
The City of Asheville’s Board of Adjustment has jurisdiction to hear cases regarding variance requests from the provisions of the Unified Development Ordinance. Additionally, the Board of Adjustment has jurisdiction to hear appeals regarding interpretations of the Unified Development Ordinance, Floodplain Ordinance, Housing Code Ordinance and Historic District Guidelines. The Board of Adjustment meets once a month on the 4th Monday of the month. In order to secure a place on the Board of Adjustment’s agenda you must submit an application at least 20 days prior to the regular scheduled meeting. Adopted Rules of Procedure for the Board of Adjustment
Individuals are encouraged to contact the secretary to the Board to verify the most current version of Rules and Procedures.
Pursuant to NCGS 160A-388, City Code Sec. 7-6-2, and the Rules of Procedure for the Board of Adjustment, appeals from decisions of the City's administrative staff must be filed within 60 days of the contested action.
